How to get to Fonte de Baixo

By public transport you will find it easy to get to Pombal, Pedrogao Grande or Serta the three closest towns to Casal dos Bufos. I will pick you up from there. 

By plane:

- Fly to Lisbon or Porto. Check  for best options.

From Lisboa aeroporto

- Follow the signs IP1 (A1) towards Porto (toll road)
- Exit at junction 10 (Pombal) and take the IC8 towards Castelo Branco
- Stay on the IC8 for around 50 km.
- Take the exit signposted Barragem do Cabril, Pedrogao Pequeno, Oleiros (EN 350)
- Take the turn to Barragem do Cabril, Pedrogao Pequeno
- At the end of the village turn right following the sign
Sr.a Confiança, Penedo, Casal dos Bufos
Follow the road uphill to the right. Do not turn left at the hotel sign!
Go through Serrada do Peneda
At crossroads turn right Take the next left turn, signposted Bouças
Go past two houses on your right
Take the 3rd drive to the right
Follow the track down trough the woods.

From Porto aeroporto

- Follow the signposts IP1 (A1) to Lisboa (toll road)
- Exit at junction 10 (Pombal) and take the IC8 towards Castelo Branco
- Continue as above.

From Spain

- Take the A 62 to Guarda.
- Take the A 23 to Castelo Branco
- Take the IC8 towards Figueiro da Foz/Serta
- Continue for 55 km
- Exit at Pedrogao Pequeno and continue as above.

By train

When you have purchased your ticket you will see:
CARR:25 (this indicates the carriage you are to ride in)
LUG: 81 (this indicates the seat you have been allocated. It will either be a Janela (window seat) or Corredor (corridor seat) Keep your ticket as you will be asked to present it to the on-board inspector.

From Lisboa aeroporto

Take the Metro from the Airport to Oriente railway station (a short 5-minute ride which costs approximately €1.90). Take the  Intercity train to  Pombal and I will pick you up from there. You can find a timetable on line  (English page on the net)

From Porto aeroporto

Take the Metro to Porto Campanha railway station and take the train to Pombal. I will pick you up there. You can find a timetable on line  (English version on the net)

By coach

There are about five busses per day to Pedrogao Grande, but they take twice as long as the train. If you fancy the scenic route go to  for the time table. I will pick you up at the bus stop.
