Food

Food plays an important part in our lives as we grow most of it ourselves. When this is not possible, we try to source it within a 150 kilometre radius of Fonte de Baixo. Of course, there are something’s that will come from further afield and when this is the case, we think long and hard about the implications behind the purchase. Our fruit and vegetables are grown organically applying the principles of permaculture and biodynamics.

97_195_August2011016.JPG We believe that what we eat is vitally important. We only serve vegetarian meals, drawing our inspiration from traditional and modern cuisine and the principles of ayurvedic nutrition. Food will always be seasonal and fresh. We also cater for special diets (allergies / intolerances, vegan etc.) on request and for a small supplement.

In the summer months breakfast includes fresh fruit, cereals, home baked bread, jam, yoghurt and milk from the goats and eggs from our chickens.

Lunch will be a selection of salad, dips and cheeses with home baked bread.

With each season the ingredients will change according to what is ready to pick in the garden.
