"I would say that it was the excitement of being self-reliant and uncorrupt to the rest of the world, it felt honest and refreshing. It was also the sparks of inspiration of HOPE that made this visit unique. The proof that it IS possible to live away from the providings of the government and large scale electricity and water providers with mountains of bills and tax AND actually live COMFORTABLY. That is, in the western world, a more pityful image - To think that one could actually escape from the web of reliability of external sources for the functionings of every minute of every hour of every day life; one would imagine the only alternative would be to live in a cave and shit in the woods and live very backwards. Instead, it felt like the direction and solution for our future in many ways. The knowledge and skills of both Bruni and Garri makes one (on behalf of western lifestyle) feel far less capable and well-provided than we are thought to be. My days were full of learning and productivity and beauty. I think it is, in all cases an extremely beneficial thing to be outside.   108_214_cranberry_005.jpg   I suffer from dust allergy quite severely and it rejuvinated my health - being outside more than inside was amazing. My eyes began to forgive me, saying goodbye to screens and hello to range of perspective! Looking far out at the everchanging view of the mountains and distant windmill-topped hills, I felt like a human being more than ever before. Coming back opened my eyes to how zombie-like we actually live. If you want to feel renewed and awakened, visit Fonte de Baixo and dare to let go of former "needs". If you want to gain something and come away from here with something special, you must learn to see things the way they are, not the way you are."
